NY LIVE: Cadillac XT4
GM\'s luxury marque is finally filling in its SUV lineup as Cadillac sales inch upward in 2018.
Cadillac has revealed the first-ever XT4 at the New York International Auto Show.
Slotting below the XT5, the smaller XT4 serves as a compact alternative targeting the "fastest-growing luxury segment" that will likely remain important as the brand continues its long-term revitalization strategy.
The newcomer does not stray far from the larger XT5's overall form and styling, and for good reason; the larger model is Cadillac's top seller by a wide margin, outselling the second-place Escalade by three-to-one.
"The XT4 has a great presence that is confident and poised," says exterior design manager Therese Pinazzo. "It exudes Cadillac's DNA, but with a new boldness that speaks to the youthfulness of its team and its customers."
Despite its compact exterior proportions, the XT4 is claimed to offer class-leading rear-seat 'roominess' and plenty of cargo space with the rear seat folded.
All models are motivated by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, delivering 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system is available as an optional upgrade.
The XT4 will be priced at $35,790 (including freight) when it arrives in showrooms starting fall 2018.
