All-electric Chevy Camaro eCOPO dragster heads to auction

The car managed a 9.51-second quarter mile at 140 mph.

The battery-powered Chevrolet Camaro eCOPO concept is apparently heading into the private market at a Monterey Car Week auction.

Built to highlight General Motors' vision for the future of high-performance electric vehicles, the eCOPO jettisoned the Camaro's traditional gasoline engine in favor of dual BorgWarner electric motors and an 800-volt battery array capable of producing over 700 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque.

The dragster has run a 9.51-second quarter mile at 140 mph. "Wheel standing electric!" auction house Russo and Steele proclaims.

The eCOPO Camaro is estimated to bring bids of up to $525,000 at the August 16 auction, according to a pre-sale estimate reported by Fox News.
