GM to hike C8 Chevy Corvette price above $60K next year?
The promised sub-$60,000 entry point may be temporary.
The C8 Chevrolet Corvette's seemingly attractive sub-$60,000 entry price may not be long for this world, according to a recent rumor.
The 2020 'Vette sneaked in just $5 below the promised threshold with a $59,995 price tag, dispelling rumors that the extensive mid-engine redesign would push the nameplate closer to the six-figure bracket where many of its spec-for-spec rivals reside.
A "well-placed source" now tells MotorTrend that the revamped Corvette will only keep its bargain price for the 2021 model year. The report does not mention how far north the C8 is expected to go. History could serve as an indicator, however, as the C7 generation jumped by $4,000 by its third year on the market.
In any case, the $60,000 target has certainly attracted plenty of media attention but may not reflect the average sale price due to dealer markups.
