2017 Camaro ZL1 horsepower figures posted

The new figures are higher than what GM had previously suggested.

The quick-shifting, top-dropping 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1's specs, trim levels and options have been leaked ahead of an official GM announcement.

A complete dealership order guide was posted to the enthusiast forum Camaro6.com yesterday, revealing, among other things, that its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 generates 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

That's 10 more horses and 10 more torques than GM had previously suggested, matching that of the nearly $80,000 Corvette Z06, which shares the same LT4 engine. Pricing has not been announced, but estimates suggest something in the $65,000 range.

The engine will be mated to a 10-speed dual-clutch transmission that is said to shift 36 percent faster than that of a Porsche unit.

Other new options include ZL1 floor mats, a fuel door with a carbon fiber insert, and a teen driver mode. Presumably, the latter will reduce the number of memes generated by offspring who attempt to show off while leaving Cars and Coffee meets.
