One-off eCOPO Camaro drag racer goes electricby Justin King
The SEMA show car is estimated to complete a quarter mile in around nine seconds.
General Motors has revealed the eCOPO Camaro, an all-electric drag racing concept that will be on display in Las Vegas at SEMA.
The eCOPO's pair of BorgWarner motor assemblies and 800-volt battery system replace the Camaro's traditional gasoline engine, generating a combined 600 pound-feet of torque and 700 horsepower.
"The eCOPO Concept is all about where we go in the future with electrification in the high performance space," says Russ O'Blenes, GM's director of performance variants, parts and motorsports. "The original COPO Camaro program was all about pushing the envelope, and this concept is an exploration with the very same spirit."
The eCOPO Camaro is estimated to run a quarter mile in around nine seconds.
