Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison 'Plus' to get bigger tires
American Expedition Vehicles plans to offer the kit as a standalone upgrade.
The Chevrolet ZR2 Bison may soon get a 'Plus' variant that fulfills American Expedition Vehicles' original idea for the off-road pickup.
The popular Bison is equipped with 31-inch tires, however AEV designed its suspension upgrades to go even bigger. Speaking to Muscle Cars and Trucks, the tuner says it ultimately lost the battle with General Motors lawyers.
"But it was a battle with legal that the design team just wasn't going to win," said AEV marketing manager Matt Feldermann. "They would have to go through a completely different set of tests for this one-two-thousand unit build, so they weren't going to spend the millions on the R&D."
The tuner is now planning to offer its own upgrade kit with 35-inch tires and high-clearance fender flares for the ZR2 Bison, though it will not be pre-installed by GM.
"So you can take full advantage of everything that went into your ZR2 suspension geometry, and put on a bigger tire," Feldermann added.
The company has not announced pricing details for the package, which is tentatively named Bison Plus and will be on display at November's SEMA show in Las Vegas.
