Chevrolet Silverado 'ZRX' to take on Ford Raptor?
The ZRX is rumored to slot above the Trail Boss variant.
General Motors is reportedly working on a new Chevrolet Silverado variant to better rival the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram Rebel TRX.
Sources have told GM Authority the new edition will be called the Silverado ZRX and slot above the current Trail Boss (pictured).
The ZRX is expected to get an upgraded off-road suspension system with MultiMac DSSV dampers, electronic locking differentials for the front and rear, and new bumpers that provide improved approach and departure angles.
The Silverado's 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 is said to carry over to the ZRX, mated to a 10-speed transmission, though it is unclear if the engine has been tuned to deliver more than the current output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
The ZRX is said to be scheduled for a broader Silverado refresh that will arrive for the 2022 model year.
