Four variants pay homage to four race-winning drivers.
Chevrolet traveled to the 24 Hours of Daytona to reveal a limited-edition version of the seventh-generation Corvette. Based on the Grand Sport model, the Drivers Series honors four race-winning Corvette drivers.
There are four versions of the Drivers Series called Tommy Milner Edition, Oliver Gavin Edition, Jan Magnussen Edition, and Antonio Garcia Edition, respectively. Each one receives a driver-specific appearance. Milner's is blue with silver stripes, Gavin's is gray with a red center stripe, Magnussen's is white with red stripes, and Garcia's is yellow with what Chevrolet calls a Jake stinger stripe. The special treatment also includes driver-specific paint on the wheels and the calipers, plus interior accents like an engraved plaque.
"Customers can select the version of their favorite Corvette Racing driver or simply choose the one with the color and graphics that appeals the most to them," said Steve Majoros, the director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing, in a statement.
The Drivers Series cars all come with a naturally-aspirated, 6.2-liter V8 engine rated at 460 horsepower. They also boast an electronic limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, among other standard features.
The Chevrolet Corvette Drivers Series will be available in the spring of 2019. The package costs $4,995 when it's ordered with the 1LT and the 2LT trims, and $5,995 when it's paired with the 3LT trim. Chevrolet has not revealed how many examples of each driver-inspired car it will make.
