Chevrolet has announced official fuel economy ratings for its 2016 Malibu Hybrid. The Malibu Hybrid is scheduled to hit Chevrolet dealerships this spring.
The Chevy Malibu Hybrid is good for an EPA-estimated 47mpg in the city and 46mpg on the highway, netting a combined rating of 46mpg. Chevy says no vehicle in the segment can beat the Malibu Hybrid for city mileage.
"The Malibu Hybrid offers outstanding fuel efficiency and integrates the latest technology to give customers a world-class hybrid,” said Steve Majoros, marketing director of Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers. "Combined with a number of available, leading safety and connectivity features, it's a great choice for those who want exceptional efficiency with Chevrolet's signature value.”
The Malibu Hybrid uses a gas-electric system lifted from the Chevy Volt. That system includes a 1.8L gas engine as well as a two-motor drive unit. Backed by a 1.5kWh lithium-ion battery, Chevy says the Malibu Hybrid is capable on running on battery power at speeds up to 53mph.
The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid will carry a base price of $28,645, which includes destination.
