Chevy expands CNG option to 3500HD Chassis Cabby Drew Johnson
Chevy\'s 3500HD Chassis Cab is no cleaner burning.
Chevrolet is expanding its bi-fuel engine option to include its Silverado 3500HD Chassis Cab for 2016. Chevy currently offers a compressed natural gas, or CNG, option for its Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD models, as well as the Express van.
Capable of running on either CNG or regular gasoline, the 2016 3500HD Chassis Cab CNG, which will be available in two- and four-wheel drive configurations, will come equipped with both a 24.5 gallon CNG and a 23.5 gallon gasoline tank. The CNG tank will be located directly behind the cab.
CNG is popular among fleet buyers as it's cheaper and cleaner-burning than gasoline.
"CNG burns cleaner and costs less at the pump than gasoline, making it an appealing option for fleets,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet & Commercial. "Expanding our CNG lineup furthers our commitment to provide a diverse lineup of alternative fuel vehicles for our customers.”
The 3500HD Chassis Cab CNG will come with a five-year/100,000 mile warranty for fleet buyers. Retail customers will receive a five-year/60,000 mile warranty. Both fleet and retail buyers will be covered by Chevy's two-year/24,000 mile scheduled maintenance plan.
Pricing for the 2016 Silverado 3500 Chassis Cab CNG will be announced closer to the truck's fourth quarter introduction date.
