Dodge revives Charger Daytona for 2020 with 717-hp Hellcat V8

Like the 1969 original, only 501 examples will be built.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has resurrected the Daytona badge once again for the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition.

The limited-production Daytona is now the most powerful Charger ever, adding an extra 10 horsepower to the Hellcat V8 for a total of 717 ponies and 650 pound-feet of torque.

The 50th Anniversary edition does not have a massive rear wing or extended nose of the original Charger Daytona, which started as a record-breaking 200 mph prototype and led to a limited production run of 501 units -- the minimum threshold to qualify for use in NASCAR races of the era.

The 2020 model features a "Daytona" decklid, rear-quarter decal with matching spoiler, and exclusive B5 blue paint. Like the original, production will be restricted to just 501 units.

FCA dealers will begin taking orders this fall ahead of the first deliveries early next year.
