Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced pricing details for its new Dodge Durango SRT.
Billed as America's fastest and most powerful three-row SUV, the Durango SRT starts at $64,090 (including $1,095 freight). The price includes a one-day session at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona.
With a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 under the hood, the SUV delivers 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Drivers can expect to launch from zero to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, while the NHRA has certified a quarter-mile time of 12.9 seconds.
Designers have broadened the Durango body to fit its 20x10-inch black wheels. The functional SRT hood contributes to its sporty appearance and helps cool the engine.
Selectable drive modes include a sport mode that slashes shift times an sends 65 percent of torque to the rear wheels. Switching to the track setting enables 160-millisecond shifts and a 70-percenet torque split to the rear.
The Durango SRT represents a savings of nearly $4,000 compared to the similarly equipped Grand Cherokee SRT. For the ultimate in performance and an 11.6-second quarter mile, the Jeep will soon be available with FCA's Hellcat V8.
