SEMA: Dodge Durango Shaker
Dodge imagines a high-performance Durango.
Fiat Chrysler is already working on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Hellcat engine, so why not make a Dodge Durango with a 6.4L HEMI and Shaker hood? That was exactly the thinking behind the Dodge Durango Shaker, which made its world debut earlier today at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
The Durango is already considered one of the sportier three-row SUVs on the market, but Dodge significantly upped the Durango's street cred with a new Shaker concept model. At the heart of the Durango Shaker is a 6.4L HEMI V8 that presumable puts out at least 475 horsepower. The top of that motor pokes through the Durango's hood thanks to a Shaker hood borrowed from the Challenger coupe.
In order to complete the look, the Durango Shaker has been dropped three-inches on a custom suspension and rolls on a set of 22-inch satin black wheels. Other unique touches include a new grille design for better ventilation, center exhaust pipes, satin black side sills, a fuel filler door from a Challenger, rear spoiler and a throw-back B5 Blue paint job. A set of SRT-specific brakes have been fitted to rein in the Durango Shaker's powerful V8 engine.
Inside the Durango retains its three-row seating arrangement, but with a twist; every seat used in the Durango Shaker is sourced from the mighty Dodge Viper.
Although we wouldn't bank on a Durango Shaker showing up in Dodge showrooms anytime soon, there have been rumblings of a possible Durango SRT model. The Dodge Durango Shaker could be a prelude to that production vehicle.
