2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 pricing leaks

The GT500 is about on par with its closest rivals.

Prices for Ford's 760-horsepower Mustang Shelby GT500 have leaked online ahead of the car's official market introduction. Deliveries of the GT500, which was unveiled at the 2019 Detroit auto show, will commence within the next few weeks.

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will carry a base price of $70,300, according to a document obtained by Mustang6G.com. However, actual prices will be higher once you get out of the door, with destination and gas guzzler tax tacking on $1,095 and $2,600, respectively.

Although not unreasonably priced in base form -- the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is $1,000 more to start -- the MSRP for a GT500 can get outrageous if you go heavy in the options. In fact, it's not that difficult to build a GT500 in excess of $100,000.

That steep price tag comes courtesy mainly of two big-ticket options -- the Carbon Fiber Track Pack with a sticker of $18,500, and the $10,000 painted racing stripes package. However, there are plenty of cheaper packages to spend your money on, such as the $1,500 Handling Package, the $3,000 Technology Package and an exposed carbon fiber instrument cluster that will set you back an additional $1,000.

No matter the options, every GT500 comes fitted with a supercharged 6.2L V8 that makes 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission on offer is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
