2019 Ford Focus caught camo-free

by Ronan Glon

An amateur spy photographer caught the next-generation Focus in the buff.

You're not supposed to see the next-generation Ford Focus for another few weeks. The all-new model will break cover at a standalone, Apple-style event the Blue Oval will organize in April. An amateur spy photographer from Hungary has ruined Ford's surprise, however.

An image posted by Hungarian website Vezess shows a dark blue Focus hatchback participating in a photo shoot in Portugal. It confirms the model gets a sleeker-looking design that merges into the compact mainstream while losing a little bit of its originality. The elongated headlights remain but the back end looks more upright than before.

The up-swept crease that stretches across the bottom part of the front and rear doors makes the Focus look less slab-sided than before. The rear door frames stretch further into the C-pillar, which should facilitate getting in and out of Ford's popular hatchback.

The line-up will include a four-door hatchback pictured here and a four-door sedan, which we haven't see yet. Buyers in select global markets (including Europe) will also have access to a station wagon we won't see on our shores.

The 2019 Ford Focus will go on sale next year. While the company builds the current-generation model in Michigan, it has previously confirmed plans to assemble the new car in China and export it to the United States.
