2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 boasts 760 horsepower
The new V8 is the company's most powerful street-legal engine.
Ford has finally confirmed engine output specifications for the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500.
The 5.2-liter supercharged V8 delivers no less than 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque, making it Ford's most powerful street-legal engine ever.
The power figures are enough to stay ahead of the 650-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, though it is still slightly short of the 797-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.
Notably, the GT500's engine is claimed to be the most power-dense supercharged production V8 and the car will presumably be significantly lighter than a Dodge Challenger. Ford expects a zero-to-60 mph time in the mid-three-second range and a quarter-mile benchmark below 11 seconds.
