Ford details new 7.3-liter V8 for Super Duty pickups

The engine delivers 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

Ford has detailed an all-new 7.3-liter gasoline V8 that will make its debut in the 2020 F-Series Super Duty lineup.

The engine is claimed to offer best-in-class gas V8 output of 430 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 475 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Notable features include an overhead valve architecture that maximizes low-rpm power, a variable-displacement oil pump, extra-large main bearings, forged steel crankshaft, and piston fooling jets to mitigate temperature under heavy load.

The F-250 and F-350 will be the first to receive the 7.3-liter mill. Additional payload and tow ratings will be announced at a later date, along with details of the upgraded 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8.
