2020 Ford Expedition adds FX4 off-road package
The FX4 features new shocks, an electronic limited-slip differential, skid plates and side steps.
Ford has expanded the 2020 Expedition lineup with a new FX4 variant, combining rugged off-road upgrades with upscale interior enhancements.
The FX4 rides on 32-inch tires with 18-inch grey metallic wheels and specially-tuned shocks. No less than seven skid plates have been added to protect the underbody components, with a shorter chin spoiler beneath the front bumper to improve approach angles. Chrome-plated running boards with angular step bars complete the exterior upgrades.
Ford's 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine delivers 375 horsepower via a 10-speed automatic transmission and two-speed electronically controlled transfer case. The FX4 package also features a new 3.73:1 electronic limited-slip differential and heavy-duty engine radiator.
Inside, the SUV has been outfitted with leather-trimmed seating and wood accents for the Limited series, along with rubber floor liners in the front and rear. The company's Co-Pilot360 suite comes standard, complementing a 360-degree camera system with a split view that allows the driver and passenger to view surrounding terrain.
The Expedition FX4 package is available for both the standard-wheelbase and the stretched Expedition Max.
