2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R borrows GT500 tech

The front suspension and steering system have been upgraded.

Ford has introduced several significant upgrades for the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R, promising improved handling and steering responsiveness.

Borrowing technology developed for the forthcoming GT500 flagship, the GT350R features redesigned front-suspension geometry with new high-trail steering knuckles. A new steering rack and recalibrated electric power steering have also been added.

"It's always been our plan to take the latest innovations from the GT500 program and strategically apply them across the Mustang lineup," says Ford Performance chief program engineer Ed Krenz.

Continuing the spirit of weight reduction, the GT350R loses some exhaust resonators and gains a sharper exhaust note.

The 2020 edition will presumably be heading to showrooms in the coming months.
