2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to weigh around 4,225 pounds?

A leaked spec sheet suggests the GT500 could be over 400 pounds heavier than the GT350.

Ford's 2020 Shelby GT500 will be the most powerful Mustang ever, yet a recent leak suggests it could also be one of the heaviest.

The company's eSourceBook dealer training documents, posted by Mustang6G, show a curb weight of approximately 4,225 pounds. If true, the flagship Shelby will be more than 400 pounds heavier than the GT350.

The figure still compares favorably to the heftier Challenger but exceeds the flagship Camaro ZL1. To be fair, the Challenger Demon leads in terms of power-to-weight ratio.

The GT500 could try to bridge the divide between the cornering-focused Camaro ZL1 and the drag-optimized Challenger Hellcat variants. Ford told Motor1 that "official stats haven't been released yet" so there is no final confirmation. The figure could be reduced by optional lightweight components and component deletions.

In any case, Ford has declared that the 760-horsepower GT500 will hit 60 mph in the mid-three-second range and stay under 11 seconds in a quarter-mile run.
