Ford reveals Puma compact crossover for Europe

The crossover is based on the Fiesta, with more interior room and higher ground clearance.

Ford has fully revealed the Puma, a small Fiesta-based crossover designed for Europe.

The Puma features unique exterior styling that represents the latest chapter in Ford's design language, with a rounded front end that places the 'wing-top' headlights high above the prominent grille.

Inside, the Puma benefits from 'MegaBox' storage that can fit two sets of golf clubs upright. The second-row seats fold flat and the MegaBox floor can be removed to reach the maximum cargo capacity of 16 cubic feet.

Ford integrates many of its Pilot360 advanced driver assistance technologies including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, speed-sign recognition, and lane centering. The Pump also features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a Local Hazard Information system that alerts drivers to potential trouble ahead.

The Puma is powered by a three-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a 48-volt mild hybrid system, providing up to 153 horsepower. The electric motor provides up to 50 percent more torque at low rpm and 20 percent higher torque overall compared to the gasoline engine alone.

The company has not said if the Puma will eventually make its way to US showrooms.
