Shelby announces Signature Edition Super Snake package

The Signature Edition Super Snake Package boosts the GT500\'s output to 850 horsepower.

Shelby American has introduced a new limited-edition upgrade package called Signature Edition Super Snake.

Designed for the 2007 - 2014 Ford Shelby GT500, the package adds a Kenne Belle supercharger to the 5.8-liter V8, boosting its output to a massive 850 horsepower. Cooling upgrades include a new radiator, a heat exchanger and aluminum cooling tanks. Beefier rear brakes and a re-tuned suspension help the driver make the most of the V8's grunt.

Visually, the Signature Edition Super Snake stands out from a stock GT500 thanks to decorative stripes on the body, forged 10-spoke wheels manufactured by Weld and a sprinkling of edition-specific emblems. Customers looking to further stand out can order Shelby's "wide body" package at an extra cost.

Interior pictures were not published but Shelby promises the 'Stang packs a set of unique floor mats, a metal plaque on the center console and company founder Carroll Shelby's signature on the steering wheel.

The Signature Edition Super Snake is Shelby's way of sending off the current GT500.

"With production of the current generation GT500 ending, we wanted to commemorate the sunset of an important era. It's a car worthy of being honored with a very special limited edition Shelby," said Shelby American CEO Joe Conway.

Production of the Signature Super Snake Package will be limited to just 50 units. Pricing starts at $44,995 excluding the cost of the donor car, and orders will be accepted through January 31st, 2015.
