2019 GMC Sierra LIVE [Video]

The Silverado\'s sibling is packed with plenty of tech upgrades including a multi-color HUD

General Motors has revealed the next-generation GMC Sierra pickup for the 2019 model year.

Designers worked to make the Sierra a bit more distinguished from its downmarket sibling, the Chevrolet Silverado. Changes include a reworked chrome grille, new bumpers and "light blade" LED headlights, though the rest of the bodywork is still shared between both brands.

The new Sierra also introduces a few functional upgrades beyond the expected aesthetic tweaks. A new MultiPro six-function tailgate is exclusive to the GMC pickup, along with an industry-first carbon fiber pickup box.

Naturally, the new model is packed with GM's latest safety and assistance tech. Notable upgrades include a multi-color head-up display and a ProGrade trailering system that links to a dedicated app.

Buyers looking for the most premium experience are treated to new Denali-package materials such as open-poor wood trim and dark-finish aluminum accents.

New versions of GM's existing 6.2- and 5.3-liter V8 engines are listed among available powertrains. The company is also adding a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline six.

The GMC Sierra Denali and SLT packages will begin trickling into showrooms this fall. Pricing and additional details will be announced closer to start of production.
