Genesis to launch five new models by 2020

Genesis\' lineup will include six models in 2020.

A leaked Powerpoint slide has shed insight into what the future holds for Hyundai's newly-created Genesis brand.

The automaker made its official debut earlier this year when it introduced the 2017 G90 at the Detroit Auto Show. The G90 is currently the only member of the Genesis lineup, but the catalog will be expanded later this year with the launch of two models called G80 and G70, respectively. While the G80 is closely related to the existing Hyundai Genesis, the G70 will be a brand new model positioned at the bottom of the company's lineup.

Earlier rumors indicate the G70 will take the form of a compact premium sedan whose design will be inspired by the sleek-looking New York Concept presented during this year's New York Auto Show. It will fight in the same segment as the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Uncovered by The Korean Car Blog, the product plan indicates that Genesis will move into the crossover segment in 2017 with a mid-size model that hasn't been named yet. A second, smaller crossover is scheduled to hit the market before 2020. Finally, Genesis' product plan calls for the launch of a coupe that will replace Hyundai's current Genesis Coupe. The base model will fight in the same segment as the BMW 4 Series, and it will allegedly spawn a more extreme variant designed to run alongside the M4.
