Hyundai builds all-electric double decker bus

The bus can drive 70 passengers for 186 miles on a single charge.

Hyundai has revealed an electric double-decker bus at an infrastructure expo in South Korea.

Powered by a massive 384-kWh polymer battery, the bus has a maximum driving range of around 186 miles and can be recharged in just 72 minutes.

The double-deck layout provides room for 70 passengers, including 59 seats on the second floor, with an automatic sliding ramp and low floor design for wheelchair access.

"The double-decker electric bus is an environmentally friendly vehicle optimized for global eco-friendly trends," says Hyundai's head of commercial vehicle advanced engineering, ByoungWoo Hwang. "This will not only ultimately improve the air quality, but also contribute greatly to easing commuting hour traffic congestion by accommodating more passengers."
