Hyundai hints at more powerful Venue N

In the meantime, an N-Line edition will offer styling enhancements.

Hyundai may already be working on a more powerful version of the diminutive Venue crossover.

First, the company plans to launch an N-Line variant that focuses on sporty aesthetics rather than performance upgrades. The N-Line launch was confirmed at the New York auto show by Hyundai North America COO Brian Smith, according to Australia's Drive.

The Korean automaker is regularly expanding its range of N-badged models, both pure 'N' models with more power and lesser N-Line editions that appeal to styling tastes. Smith acknowledged that a Venue N 'could' be under development, though he did not explicitly confirm the project.

Customers outside the US can buy the i30 N, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 271 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The high-performance hatchback hints at the power upgrade that could be in store for a Venue N.
