Hyundai previews wireless EV charging, automated valet parking [Video]

After the battery is charged, the vehicle automatically reparks itself in an empty spot.

Hyundai has revealed a unique wireless EV charging system concept that employs automated valet-parking technology.

The features inform the driver of the vehicle's remaining battery charge and automatically find the wireless charging stations by communicating with the building or parking garage. The car then navigates itself to the parking spot and charges wirelessly via magnetic induction.

After the charging process is complete, the car can drive itself to an empty parking spot to ensure that the wireless charging pad is free for other vehicles to use.

The Automated Valet Parking System combines several technologies that are already under development, though Hyundai does not expect it to be ready for the market until 2025.
