Hyundai reveals 2020 Sonata Turbo with 180 horsepower

The 1.6-liter engine will be mated to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai has revealed the 2020 Sonata Turbo at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show.

The sedan is powered by a 1.6-liter Smart Stream T-GDi turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 180 horsepower. The new mill is mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic.

"This new Sonata variant also features a range of sporty and sensuous design enhancements that complement the vehicle's performance capabilities," the company says.

The revised design language is anchored by the first example of Hyundai's new 'Paramatic Jewel' grille, complemented by air ducts beneath the headlights and a wing-shape rear spoiler.

The Sonata Turbo is expected to arrive later this year.
