Hyundai teases plug-in hybrid crossover concept for LA debut
The model presents Hyundai's vision for a compact eco-focused urban crossover.
Hyundai has released a set of teasers for a new plug-in hybrid crossover that will make its full debut in Los Angeles.
The concept is said to be a compact model focused on urban markets with an 'eco-lifestyle' theme, serving as an evolution of the Korean automaker's Sensuous Sportiness global design language.
Designers were tasked with connecting the body's parametric surfaces to either light or trim features, reflecting ambient light from concave and convex lines to create a sense of tension. A Hidden Signature Lamp is borrowed from the Le Fil Rouge and Grandeur Face Lift.
As speeds increase, the concept's grille facets individually close in sequence to control airflow to the plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Aside from the futuristic front-end styling, the crossover's overall form appears to be close to production. The company has not yet officially confirmed plans to build the model, however.
