Infiniti's all-electric sedan, SUV due in early 2020s
The production EVs will be informed by the Qs Inspiration and QX Inspiration concepts.
Infiniti has reaffirmed plans to launch several all-electric production models in the coming years, including a sedan and crossover.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Nissan's luxury brand views the era of electrification as an opportunity to reestablish itself as an innovator that challenges conventional wisdom in the premium segment.
"We will deliver thrilling electric and electrified powertrains, performance-enhancing driver assist technologies, and a range of vehicle designs unlike anything else on the road," says Infiniti vice chairman Mike Colleran.
The company promises to offer a range of electrified powertrains including pure battery power and a hybrid system that employs the variable-compression VC-Turbo engine with a pair of electric motors as an e-AWD system. Future models will be built upon "two powertrains, one platform" architectures that accommodate both all-electric and "gas-generated EV" hybrid powertrains.
The Qs Inspiration and QX Inspiration concepts are said to provide a preview of production EVs that will arrive on the market in the early 2020s.
