Infiniti teases all-electric crossover for Detroit debut

The sporty EV is said to be inspired by the Q Inspiration and Prototype 10 concepts.

Infiniti has released a teaser image for an all-electric crossover concept that will be unveiled next month in Detroit.

The company says the concept will preview its latest vision for an upcoming production model, borrowing design language from the existing Q Inspiration and Prototype 10 concepts.

The darkened photo suggests the EV will have a sporty silhouette and a muscular front end similar to the current QX70.

"The concept car we will show in Detroit is the beginning of a new era for Infiniti, and an illustration of where we want to go with the brand,' says Infiniti design director Karim Habib. "Electrification and other new technologies have given us the opportunity to evolve our design philosophy."

The crossover will be unveiled 30 years after the Infiniti brand made its global debut at the North American International Auto Show. A production date remains unclear, though the company has promised to electrify its portfolio by 2021.
