Spied: 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake
Jaguar\'s next XF Sportbrake is starting to take shape.
Jaguar's upcoming XF Sportbrake has been spotted undergoing shakedown testing at Germany's famed Nurburgring. Teased at the recent Paris Motor Show, the production version of the XF Sportbrake is expected to make its global debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The second-generation XF Sportbrake is largely expected to follow the same blueprint as the original. That should mean styling lifted largely from the XF sedan, with just enough slope in the wagon's long roof to uphold its Sportbrake designation. The new model should also be significantly lighter than its predecessor, which should translate into better overall driving dynamics.
Drivetrains for the XF Sportbrake remain unknown at this time, but it is believed that the wagon will be offered with both gas and diesel four-cylinders displacing 2.0L. It's also possible that Jaguar could stuff its 5.0L V8 between the fenders of the XF Sportbrake. A range-topping XF-R Sportbrake has not been ruled out.
Although Americans missed out on the last-gen Sportbrake, that won't be the case for the new model. Jaguar has already indicated that the stylish wagon will be sold on these shores. However, XF Sportbrake sales might not commence until sometime in 2018.
Look for Jaguar to formally unveil its second-generation XF Sportbrake in about a year's time.
