2019 Jeep Cherokee joins Top Safety Pick club
The rating applies to vehicles equipped with optional emergency braking tech and specific headlights.
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been deemed a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Cherokee was re-engineered for the 2019 model year, earning 'good' ratings across all IIHS crash tests. Previous models received a 'marginal' rating for the small-overlap test.
The crossover also received top marks in the crash-prevention tests, avoiding collisions at 12 mph and 25 mph.
Vehicles built after April 2019 are equipped with optional high-beam assist, elevating the headlight rating to 'acceptable' -- good enough for a Top Safety Pick, but falling short of the top rating required for the TSP+ honor roll.
