EVs made easy: Kia partners with Amazon on home charging stations by Drew Johnson
Buying a home EV charger is now as easy as clicking a button.
Kia has announced a new partnership with Amazon intended to make electric vehicle ownership a little easier.
The new tie-up will allow owners of plug-in Kia vehicles to shop for Level 2/240-volt home charges on Amazon. Like normal products on Amazon, buyers will be able to leave comments and ratings for the various charges, which should take some of the guessing out of home charger shopping.
And once you've selected the home charger that's right for you, you'll be able to schedule installation with a licensed electrician through the Amazon web site. All installations scheduled through Amazon are covered by the company's Happiness Guarantee.
"Home-charging can't get any easier than this,” said Orth Hedrick, executive director of Car Planning and Telematics, KMA. "Being able to order a Level 2 charger and installation through Amazon further demystifies and simplifies the experience for new Kia EV and PHEV owners. It's just another example of how we're constantly striving to provide the very best vehicles and customer experience.”
Kia currently sells four plug-in vehicles -- the pure electric Soul and Niro EVs, along with the Niro and Optima plug-in hybrid vehicles.
