Detroit LIVE: 2020 Kia Tellurideby Justin King
Kia's biggest-ever SUV has enough room for eight occupants.
Kia has finally unveiled the Telluride in production form, showing off the spacious SUV today in Detroit.
Designed specifically for the US market, Kia's largest-ever vehicle takes inspiration from "original legendary SUVs" with a boxy shape and a broad hood above a wide grille. Three seating rows provide enough room for eight occupants.
The expansive hood covers an Atkinson-cycle Lambda II 3.8-liter V6 engine that delivers 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, good enough for a 5,000-pound tow rating.
The SUV features four-wheel independent suspension with optional self-leveling hardware and available all-wheel drive. 'Comfort' and 'snow' settings put just 20 percent of torque to the rear, while 'sport' has a 65-35 front-back split and 'lock' evenly distributes power to all four wheels.
Kia's high-riding flagship is available with luxury interior appointments, ranging from quilted Nappa leather to matte-finish wood.
Pricing for the Telluride will be announced closer to launch later this year.
