Lamborghini Centenario hit with recall over erroneous label

There are 11 examples of the Centenario registered in the United States.

Lamborghini has issued an unusual recall. The firm will contact the enthusiasts who own the 11 examples of the limited-edition, Aventador-based Centenario registered in the United States to inform them of an error that must be fixed on their car's certification label.

The label shows the wrong gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), according to Motor Authority. It's higher than it should be, though the report doesn't specify whether we're talking about a few extra pounds or a few hundred extra pounds.

In theory, if the problem affected a truck like the Chevrolet Suburban, it could convince motorists they can haul more than their SUV can actually handle. In turn, they could experience suspension and/or tire failures and possibly crash. Of course, the odds of this happening in a limited-edition, V12-powered Lamborghini supercar with a briefcase-sized trunk are slim to none.

Rules are rules, however, and Lamborghini is legally required to fix the problem in a timely manner. It will notify owners of affected cars by mail, though we suspect they already know who they are. They'll need to drive, tow, or ship their prized possession to the nearest Lamborghini dealer, where a technician will remove the erroneous sticker and replace it with an accurate one.

Of course, Lamborghini will perform the repair free of charge.
