Lamborghini shows Urus ST-X race car
The SUV will make its racing debut on a "special track" in Italy.
Lamborghini has revealed the Urus ST-X, billed as the "first Super SUV in the world of racing."
The track-only Urus is lighter than the street-legal edition, despite adding a roll cage and other safety gear. The front end features a carbon-fiber hood with supplementary air intakes, while the rear has been modified with a composite wing and racing exhausts.
The company has not mentioned if the ST-X is more powerful than the street Urus. It is also unclear if the crossover will be used for a formal racing series.
The first ST-X 'race' appears to be a promotional event aligned with the Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The four class winners of the 2020 World Finals in Misano Adriatico will be given an opportunity to drive the crossover "on a special track," suggesting the high-riding racer may not be limited to pavement.
