Land Rover teases muddy Defender ahead of September debut
The SUV may have been fully revealed in a recent leak from a James Bond movie set.
Land Rover has posted its first official glimpse at the next-generation Defender.
The teaser provides a close-up look at a mud-covered hood badge, evoking the Defender's heritage as a capable off-roader. The company says that the "road to reveal" took the brand's most capable and durable 4x4 to the nearly 1,000-foot canyons in Kazakhstan's Valley of the Castles.
"Driven by a passion and respect for the original, the New Defender delivers transformational breadth of capability and advanced all-terrain technologies to redefine adventure for the 21st century, while remaining true to the pioneering spirit that has been a Land Rover hallmark for 71 years," the latest press release promises.
The press debut and marketing materials will presumably maintain a focus on ruggedness to assuage fears that the modern Defender has gone soft.
The redesigned Defender will make its first full public appearance in Frankurt in just two weeks, though it may have already been caught undisguised on a James Bond movie set.
