Land Rover cancels Range Rover SV Coupe production plan

The company planned to build less than 1,000 two-door SV Coupes, each with a base price of nearly $300,000.

Land Rover has apparently backpedaled on plans to build the two-door Range Rover SV Coupe.

Introduced just last year in Geneva, the SV Coupe was positioned as a flagship high-riding coupe with a limited run of just 999 units and an impressive starting price of nearly $300,000.

The company has now confirmed to Road & Track that the coupe will not be rolling off the assembly line.

"We have taken the difficult decision to inform our customers that the Range Rover SV Coupe will not proceed into production," a spokesperson said. "Instead, Land Rover is focusing its resources and investment on the next generation of world-class products."

With 557 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, the SV Coupe would have been Land Rover's fastest full-size SUV ever built.
