Lincoln Corsair to replace MKC as early as 2020?by Justin King
Unconfirmed reports suggest the new model could arrive earlier than previously expected.
Lincoln could be preparing to replace the MKC with the rumored Corsair sooner than expected.
Recent rumors suggested Ford dealers had been told to expect the Corsair nameplate to be revived for the redesigned compact SUV sometime in 2021.
Sources now tell Ford Authority the project is now heading for a 2020 arrival.
Entering production in 2014 and refreshed for the 2019 model year, the MKC is not long in the tooth. The recent update brought its design language up to date with Lincoln's latest Continental, MKZ, Aviator and Navigator.
The latest rumor suggests the Corsair will look even more like the Aviator, with a wider stance and new fenders. The smaller model is expected to add hybrid powertrains and will presumably showcase Ford's latest safety and assistance technologies.
The project may have been fast-tracked after Ford decided to retire nearly every car in its lineup, doubling down on high-riding models that continue to gain sales momentum.
