LA LIVE: Maserati Ghibli S, Quattroporte Sby Drew Johnson
Maserati is adding two new sporty models for 2016.
Maserati is expanding its lineup with two new trim levels for its Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans. Both models made their world debut earlier on Wednesday at the Los Angeles auto show.
Slotting between the base Ghibli and top-spec Ghibli S Q4 will be a new Ghibli S model for 2016. Essentially a two-wheel drive version of the all-wheel drive S Q4, the Ghibli S uses Maserati's 404 horsepower 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6, offering a significant bump over the Ghibli's standard 345 horsepower. The Ghibli S can scoot from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds.
Similarly, Maserati will add a new S trim to its Quattroporte line for 2016. Slotting in as the base Quattroporte for 2016, the new model will also use Maserati's 3.0L turbo-six, rated at 404 horsepower. The Quattroporte S will be able to sprint from 0-60 in 5 seconds, or 0.2 seconds slower than the all-wheel drive S Q4.
Additionally, Maserati is rolling out new convenience and safety features for 2016, including automatic stop/start, blind spot and rear cross path alert and a power trunk. Ghibli and Quattroporte buyers can also opt for a new Ermenegildo Zegna interior trim for 2016.
The 2016 Maserati Ghibli S will retail from $76,050 while the Quattroporte will carry an MSRP of $99,900.
