2018 Maserati GranTurismo gets new look, updated infotainmentby Drew Johnson
Maserati is updating its long-in-the-tooth GranTurismo coupe for 2018.
Maserati has unveiled an updated version of its GranTurismo sport coupe for the 2018 model year. Maserati chose to unveil its latest two-door just outside the New York Stock Exchange.
Despite being introduced over a decade ago, the 2018 GranTurismo represents little more than a facelift for the model line. An all-new GranTurismo was expected two years ago, but that model obviously never came to fruition.
Changes to the exterior of the GranTurismo are minor and include a new grille design inspired by the Alfieri concept car, new lower air ducts, and a re-shaped rear bumper. Maserati says the changes have lowered the car's aerodynamic drag from 0.33 to 0.32.
Under hood the GranTurismo uses a 454 horsepower 4.7L V8. It's mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The entry-level GranTurismo Sport can accelerate from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds and is capable of hitting a top speed of 185mph; the lighter GranTurismo MC can hit 60 in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 187mph.
Inside the GranTurismo receives a new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is presumably the same system used in a myriad of other FCA vehicles. Running the latest version of UConnect, the GranTurismo is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Maserati hasn't announced an on-sale date or pricing details for the updated 2018 GranTurismo, but it should land in dealer showrooms later this year.
