Geneva: McLaren teases upcoming GT model by Drew Johnson
McLaren will soon put its own spin on the GT car.
McLaren used the 2019 Geneva Motor Show to announce plans for an all-new model that will "redefine the rules of Grand Touring.”
McLaren didn't announce the name of the upcoming car, let alone its final design, but the automaker did release a single teaser image. The car's final design is concealed by heavy camouflage, but we can at least tell the new grand tourer will take the form of a two-door coupe.
"The fourth McLaren to be introduced under the Track25 business plan will be our interpretation of the Grand Tourer,” said Mike Flewitt, CEO, McLaren Automotive. "It will be a car that combines competition levels of performance with continent-crossing capability, wrapped in a beautiful lightweight body. It's a car that has been designed for distance and one that will also provide the comfort and space expected of a Grand Tourer.”
Flewitt went on to promise that the future model would be the lightest, and one of the quickest, GT cars on the market.
McLaren says it will release more information on the mystery car in the coming months.
