McLaren working on 720S Longtail?

The new addition to the LT lineup is expected to land in 2020.

McLaren is reportedly developing yet another Longtail variant, this time for the 720S, among several new models in the pipeline to debut in the next year.

The 720S Longtail project is said to be well underway, with production expected to begin in 2020, an unnamed insider has told Piston Heads.

The new body style will presumably follow the existing Longtail format, pairing a unique exterior design with a range of other enhancements to improve performance and handling.

The company is also said to be working on a two-seat speedster with an open top and a flowing design that takes inspiration from the sleek Speedtail. Positioned as a limited-production rival to the Ferrari Monza SP2, the roadster will play a unique role as the third Ultimate Series model alongside the track-focused Senna and Speedtail.

The 720S Longtail will likely receive a new model number to reflect higher engine output, while a Spider variant is likely to follow the hardtop's arrival.
