McLaren shows 600LT Spider

The open-top Longtail still hits 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.

McLaren has released the first images of the 600LT Spider, an open-top alternative to the 600LT Coupe.

Both Longtails are powered by McLaren's trusty 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 with 592 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, bringing the cars up to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. The convertible is a fraction of a second slower to 124 mph, carrying 110 extra pounds compared to the hardtop, with a top speed of 201 mph.

The 600LT Spider's three-piece retractable hardtop is said to offer more coupe-like cabin refinement than a fabric top. Drivers can deploy or stow the top at speeds of up to 25 mph.

The fifth car to carry the Longtail name, the 600LT Spider is available to order now with a starting price of $256,500.
