Mercedes-Benz announces three-row 2020 GLB

Need a compact Mercedes capable of hauling the whole family? Look no further.

Looking for a compact luxury crossover capable of moving the kids and still turning heads? You're in luck. Mercedes-Benz followed up on its GLS reveal Monday with details of the all-new 2020 GLB-Class.

This new compact crossover is just a hair smaller than the GLC (as the name suggests) but differs from its cousin with the availability of three-row seating. The GLC, despite its size, only comes in five-seat configurations.

The new GLB is powered by a 221-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed DCT and either front- or all-wheel-drive. An off-road package will make the GLB more non-pavement friendly.

Inside, optional features include a 10.25-inch COMAND dual screen display which includes a customizable cluster along with a matching infotainment screen. This system is powered by MBUX, which offers touchscreen, natural language and gesture control.

Unlike the larger GLC, the GLB will be offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations. Despite having a similar wheelbase to the midsize GLC, the GLB is a more family-friendly design.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB will go on sale late in 2019. Stay tuned for pricing and drive impressions as that debut draws closer.
