Mercedes-Benz GLA to be more SUV-like for 2020 redesign
The second-generation model will debut on December 11.
Mercedes-Benz has released a set of teaser photos for the next-generation GLA, set to be unveiled in the coming weeks for the 2020 model year.
The redesigned GLA has grown in height, adding nearly four inches to the outgoing model to achieve a "characteristic SUV" seating position and more headroom in the first row. Legroom in the rear has also improved despite an overall exterior length that is slightly shorter.
The German automaker is further reinforcing the SUV look with a more upright front section, short overhangs at the front and rear, and protective cladding. The teaser shots include a few photos showing the new GLA prototype undergoing off-road maneuver tests.
Aside from the new proportions, the crossover will benefit from the company's latest driver-assistance technologies including active brake assist, cornering function, emergency lane function and exit warning.
The 2020 GLA is scheduled for a world premier on December 11.
