Mitsubishi has traveled to the Montreal Motor Show to unveil the 2014 Mirage G4, a small four-door sedan based on the upcoming Mirage subcompact hatchback.
As expected, the Mirage G4 stands out from the regular Mirage thanks to a specific front end inspired by the G4 concept shown last April in Shanghai. It gains a three-slat grille, sharper headlights and a bespoke bumper with a rectangular air dam.
Out back, the sedan features a longer overhang, oval tail lamps and a tall trunk lid. Overall, the Mirage G4 is essentially identical to the Mitsubishi Attrage sold in select markets across Asia.
Power comes from a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that makes 74 horsepower and 74 lb-ft. of torque. The engine returns about 34 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway when bolted to the standard five-speed manual transmission, but the figures go up to roughly 37 and 44, respectively, when the optional continuously variable transmission (CVT) is selected.
The Mitsubishi Mirage G4 will likely make an appearance next April at the New York Motor Show and go on sale across the United States shortly after. Pricing information will be announced closer to its launch.
