Next-gen Nissan Altima to get all-wheel drive?
The redesigned sedan will be revealed in March at the New York International Auto Show.
Nissan's next-generation Altima might feature all-wheel drive when it debuts next month in New York.
Speaking to a panel on Autoline After Hours, Nissan engineering VP Christopher Reed mostly focused on the new Leaf but dropped a hint about the forthcoming Altima.
"Especially in the North, people like all-wheel-drive cars," he said. "We're talking about coming out with all-wheel drive on the Altima ... so we're doing some new things there."
In a follow-up statement to Roadshow, Nissan declined to explicitly confirm the hint but did not shoot it down.
"Nissan will announce full details of the 2019 all-new Altima at the New York International Auto Show, until then, no, we have no further information to share at this time," the company said.
All-wheel drive will presumably be added as an optional upgrade alongside the basic front-wheel-drive edition. The sedan is also expected to get a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
