LA LIVE: 2019 Nissan Maxima
Nissan refines its flagship sedan.
Nissan has unveiled an updated version of its flagship Maxima sedan at the 2018 Los Angeles auto show. The 2019 Maxima is scheduled to arrive in Nissan showrooms next month.
The Maxima's 2019 model year refresh represents the line's first major update since it was totally overhauled for 2015. Changes for the new model year include a revised version of Nissan's signature V-motion front grille, new-look taillights, an updated rear fascia with quad exhaust outlets and new wheel designs for all five Maxima trim levels.
Interior styling hasn't changed much for 2019, but Nissan has upgraded the Maxima with a number of new materials to make the sedan a little more luxurious. Those upgrades include a charcoal headliner for SR and Platinum Reserve trims, a Rakuda Tan semi-aniline leather appointments for the top-spec Platinum Reserve model and an improved gauge cluster.
On the tech front, Nissan has added Rear Door Alert and an upgraded satellite radio to all Maxima trims. All but the base Maxima S receive an updated navigation system.
2019 Maxima SR and Platinum models benefit from Nissan Safety Shield 360, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking.
Pricing for the 2019 Nissan Maxima range is expected to be announced closer to the sedan's December market introduction.
